{FSC Book Club} Round 5 Book Announcement & Schedule

FSC book club

We read, we cook, we chat.
This is the FSC Book Club.

Welcome to the fifth round of the FSC Book Club!

After a long hiatus, the FSC Book Club is back! We took some time off to live life and gather inspiration, and now we are ready to read and cook and chat alongside all of you. This time, based on requests and feedback from book club members, we are diving into a book that is both a touching memoir and wonderful collection of recipes:

Delancey:  A Man, a Woman, a Restaurant, a Marriage
by Molly Wizenberg

We’re so excited to read Molly Wizenberg’s newest book, Delancy:  A Man, a Woman, a Restaurant, a MarriageYou may know Molly from her blog Orangette or her first book, A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table. We heard from folks who were interested in trying out a food memoir versus a straight-up cookbook and also got some feedback that folks wanted recipes they could fit into their regular meal planning. Delancey has it all!

Delancey is a NY Times bestseller about how Molly & her husband opened a restaurant and tested their young marriage. Food & love- good stuff! She includes 20 new recipes for “the kind of simple, delicious food that chefs eat at home” for us to cook along with together. There are main courses, snacks, desserts, dressings & drinks- it has a little of everything.

“All in all, these recipes are about a satisfying kind of economy: the day-to-day economy, time-wise and money-wise, of a real home kitchen.”

Our Reading Schedule:

We’re reading 5 or so chapters every two weeks. That may seem slow to some, it may seem overwhelming to some, but the good news is that this is a low-key club! Chime in whenever you can or read ahead and save your notes for when the rest of us have caught up! Every two weeks we’ll have 3-5 recipes to choose from, but you can always choose other recipes from the book and report on them too.

Every other Monday, we’ll post Book Club “challenges” for the assigned chapters. You pick a recipe from the selection- anything you’d like- and then make it at home and attempt the “challenge”. Since Delancey is also a memoir, some weeks we’ll just pose questions for you to think about as we make our way through the book. Then you can stop in the Book Club at anytime to chat, share photos, ideas and inspiration. You can even go back to past discussions and catch up! No stress! No pressure!
