{HIP GIRLS} Updates, Announcements N More

{The book arrived in stores yesterday, April 19th, 2011. CONGRATS KATE!}

Our book party is on Friday.

The word “exciting” doesn’t fully describe how I’m feeling about the pending party. I’ll be picking Kate up from the Albany airport Friday afternoon and then we will spend some quality time in my kitchen. You see once Kate heard that we were doing a dessert potluck during the book party, she wanted to contribute (how cool is that?). Kate Payne baking some gluten-free fabulousness in my kitchen? I seriously can not wait. Is it Friday yet?

While we’re talking about the party, we have some exciting news. Two local bakeries have agreed to provide the party attendees some delicious gluten-free treats to enjoy; X’s to O’s Vegan Bakery of Troy, NY and All Good Bakers of Albany, NY. We are also excited to have Exit 9 Wine & Liquor as our wine sponsor. They will be providing New York State wines to pair with the sweet potluck variety. Lastly, we have also decided that the food swap portion of the party will be optional; so if the idea of making additional items scared you off, you’re now in luck.

All that said, we have just a few spots remaining for the event. Don’t delay, RSVP now.

We have another announcement!

If you can’t make it Friday night you will have another chance to meet her!!! Through some last-minute organization, Kate will also be in attendance for a book buying-n-signing event at the Saratoga Farmers Market from 10am-12pm, sponsored by the blog and Kilpatrick Family Farm. Each book will sell for its $19.99 price tag.

From Scratch Club will be donating a total of $5 each book sale to two projects. The Saratoga Farmers Market, for their operating costs, such as the ATM machine located at the Market Table and also to Kilpatrick Family Farm’s “produce to food pantry” project. Each year KFF donates much of the farm’s surplus produce to several area food banks. Starting last year KFF started to allow CSA members to help defray the costs of donating the produce. The donations offset some of the costs and enable the crew to put more time into harvesting. Last year Kilpatrick Family Farm donated roughly 7000 pounds of produce!

Lastly, the giveaway for a SIGNED copy of Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking will be our next post… stay tuned!
