In part one, I rambled on about my town, Ballston Spa, why its awesome while also trying to nudge you into the-possibility-of-purchasing a few of your holiday gifts from your local retailer. That said, for all you local readers, I have a great offer which will hopefully tempt you into submission…
Corina & Happy Hands Beads is offering 20% off through December 31st, 2010 to all our readers. That’s right, 20%, no coupon code. Walk in, shop and mention “From Scratch Club” blog at checkout and its a done deal!
The owner of both stores is Corina Oberai, jewelry designer, mom, and member of Ballston Spa’s Business & Professional Association. Her family moved from Vermont a handful of years ago and happily set up shop in Ballston Spa. To say she loves Ballston Spa would be an understatement and it shows. The excitement across her face and tone of voice while she chats all things Ballston Spa is infectious. Corina opened three years ago selling contemporary jewelry, her own and various other lines, and artwork. One year ago Corina busted through the wall of the adjoining building and opened Happy Hands Beads. Happy Hands Beads is a full service craft store, with beads, yarns, knitting equipment and an array of classes; beading, silversmithing, embroidery, wireworking, painting, knitting, fabric sculpting and much more, like felt ornaments. There are also classes for children including Kids Knitting and Family Vacation Classes, run December 29th-31st. You can read all about December’s classes on the website. On Friday nights, 6pm-9pm Happy Hand Beads hosts a Drop In & Hangout Night. Building community through craft- LOVE IT! The description from the website:
Hang out with us every Friday evening! During the free event we will be knitting, beading, embroidering, drinking tea, eating cookies, and having fun. Bring something to work on or start a new project in our new workspace. If you don’t have a project started, come and see what everyone else is working on and get inspired!
On Friday nights all our teachers are here and if you would like to have extra help starting a new craft, mastering a new technique, figuring out a complicated pattern, we would be happy to put together an impromptu class…let us know what you’d like to do.
I’m excited to stop in the stores more often to buy gifts for friends and to maybe start crafting again…Friday night hangout sounds wonderful.
