{Know Your Farmer} Holiday Specials @ Saratoga Farmer’s Market

Editor’s Note: I will be writing these types of posts throughout the month for different regions of the Capital Region. If you are a local farmer or purveyor, please email me your holiday specials  (free advertising peeps!) at fromscratchclub (at) gmail (dot) com. This listing comes from Mary Pratt, of Elihu Farm, my CSA Egg & Thanksgiving Leg of Lamb purveyor. Thanks Mary for keeping us all in the loop! -Christina

Holiday Time at the Saratoga Springs Farmers’ Market

Join the Saratoga Springs Farmers’ Market members for these holiday markets at the Division Street School. This Saturday December 11, the market will be in the small gym and outside along the sidewalk and the main entry;  December 18, the Market returns to the large gym. On both Saturdays the Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is also a special before-Christmas market with special hours, on Thursday,  December 23 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be no Market between Christmas and New Year’s.

Many vendors have planned for the season with new or returning products or special gift items. Scotch Ridge Farm (cholub@nycap.rr.com) and Dyers Greenhouse (dyer.sherri@gmail.com) are outside with trees and all kinds of cut greens and wreaths, while Native Farm Flowers is inside with holiday decorations (nativefarm2@verizon.net).

Argyle Cheese Farmer (cheeseplanning@yahoo.com) has six different gift baskets made from their cheeses and other farm products. See the choices on their facebook page.

Elihu Farm raised a gaggle of geese, on pasture like all their other farm products, for roast goose for Christmas and New Year’s or any festive winter dinner. They’re available at every Market or by pre-order from Mary and Bob (elihufarm@localnet.com).

Effie’s Baked Goods (effiesbakedgoods@juno.com) is commemorating their retirement from the Market with linzer trees and decorated butter cookies in holiday shapes, along with their best-selling boxed almond fingers. Order ahead from Sue or Joyce. Homstead Artisans at Longview Farm brings back goat’s milk Parmesan just in time for the holidays. Contact Liza at homesteadartisans@gmail.com

Frenchy Loeb Jewelry has new designs of holiday wreath jewelry in cultured pearls and crystals along with gifts for children. (frenchyloeb@hotmail.com) Stocking stuffers that start at $5.
