LAST WEEKEND: If you’re in Kingston area, Kingston Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting the Hudson Valley Seed Library‘s original artwork for the 2011 seed packs. Sixteen diverse artists interpret heirloom veggies, flowers and herbs. Show runs from November 6-27th. In addition, their holiday gift catalog is available.

Its almost Victorian Stroll time- can you believe it?

On Thursday, December 2nd, Saratoga Springs celebrates the holiday season with their “Streetwalk”. All of Broadway, in Downtown Saratoga Springs is blocked to traffic with games, visits with Santa, and more!

Troy has their Victorian Stroll on Sunday, December 5th from 11am to 5pm. There is a ton to do, its a very popular event. So go early and enjoy!


Want to have breakfast with Santa? Again this year Saratoga Springs has their Festival of Trees from December 1-4th. During Saturday, December 4th festivities you can have breakfast with Santa at three different times: 8, 9:30 and 11am. Find out more at Saratoga.com. (I will have more breakfasts with Santa as I find out about them!)

January 6-8th, 2011 is Albany’s first annual Wine & Dine for the Arts. From Albany.com “Local Albany chefs show off their skills in this inaugural three-day food and wine festival to raise money for the arts! The Albany Chefs’ Food and Wine Festival will take place Thursday, January 6th through Saturday, January 8th, 2011 to benefit the Art Community of Downtown Albany. This is a great opportunity to support your local downtown businesses, including the local arts and restaurants. Throughout the weekend you will taste top-of-the-line food and wine pairings, as well as learn about the impressive art of food and wine preparation with cooking demonstrations and wine tasting seminars. TONIGHT: Tight Knit will be hosting their yearly “Black Friday” Shopping Night, November 26, 2010. 5pm-10pm. Located at the Frear Building, corner of 3rd and Fulton, Downtown Troy, NY. Tight Knit is currently selling at the Indoor Troy Farmers Market’s through February. From their website: “Tight Knit is an independent Art/Craft Event based in Historic Downtown Troy, NY. Founded in 2008 by Rachel Wrightson Naylor (Troy Night Out Vacant Storefront Artist Project/ How to Rebuild Zine) and Zhenelle Falk (Born Ready Zine/ Destroy, NY), this event showcases a collection of handmade goods by artists and crafters from throughout the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Berkshires and Southern Vermont.”

TOMORROW: 35th Annual Holiday Saratoga Springs Craft Fair, The City Center, 10-4:30pm, $2 suggested admission. All admission proceeds will go to help the Saratoga Center for the Family battle against child abuse and neglect in the community. Each year, this not-for-profit organization provides more than 3,000 children and families in Saratoga County with the support and counseling they need to cope with the wounds of domestic violence.

THIS WEEKEND: CRAFTED: HANDMADE IN THE HUDSON VALLEY’s Holiday Sale will be on November 27th & 28th from 10am-4pm at the Historic Cottekill Reform Church 167 Cottekill Rd, Cottekill, NY. This looks like a fantastic event, its curated, so vendors had to be invited to participate. Hudson Seed Library and From Scratch Club’s favorite, Hodge Podge Farm, will be selling their wares. Women’s Building Artisan Market: December 3rd, 5-8pm & December 4th, 10am-4pm. The Women’ Building of Albany is hosing a local artisan marketplace. From their website:“Celebrating the talent and craftsmanship of local women artists, artisans and crafters, The Women’s Building Artisans Market  is a spotlight the tremendous ability of women artisans.”
