PB and J Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a go to breakfast in my house, as in everyday my children eat oatmeal.  I have made it so many different ways, cinnamon and brown sugar with carmalized apples, mashed up banana and maple syrup, fresh berries, frozen berries (mashed).  You name I have probably tried it.  So in wanting to try something different and to change it up a bit, I had the idea to put in 2 of my children’s favorite things- Peanut Butter and Jelly and it was, and will be for a while a huge hit.  My 3-year-old loves to stir in her own jelly, so I add the PB to all of the oatmeal, then top her’s with a dolup of Jelly.  I am not a huge oatmeal eater, but I will eat it this way.  We eat so much Oatmeal that I buy 50 LBS bags from Honest Weight Food Co-op, if you have not been in I highly recommend  you do.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 C Rolled Oats

3 C Water

1/4 C Milk

2 T Peanut Butter ( Or your favorite Nut Butter)

2 T Jelly

INSTRUCTIONS

Place water and oats in a sauce pan and cook on high heat until it comes to a small boil then turn the heat down to low, cook until it becomes the consistency you like- I say about 15 minutes.  When oatmeal is done cooking stir in milk, PB and Jelly.  This is just what I do, so if you like more or less of anything go ahead and go for it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Love the honest weight food coop! They have the most diverse bulk food section with almost every possible item. Great to be able to buy little bit of new thing to try. They also have an amazing selection of cheeses. Loved these combo ideas. Will be tying some this week. Perfect too with the recent cool weather.

I really like this combo!!! Miles has gotten bored with his waffles with sunbutter- I’m totally going to try tomorrow morning as Bob’s Red Mill has GF oats and our hot cereal needs a kick in the pants!
