I ignore my red leaf lettuce. Its stored in a nice ‘crisper’ container. We eat it daily as salad. As for the blog, I don’t believe we’ve dedicated a post to it. This post will be no difference, as the bean burger recipe will shine here but without the lettuce what would a burger be?
Found this recipe today on Foodista.com, which was uploaded by Elyse at the Creative Delites blog. I will link to both below. I made “slider” sized burgers so they would fit on our sack of sourdough rolls from Rock Hill Bakehouse http://www.rockhillbakehouse.com/. These burgers are baked in the oven and FULL of flavor. I used a can of kidney beans I had in the pantry. I changed nothing else. delish!
Baked Lentil Burgers by Creative Delites
Recipe link (its also on the CD blog): http://www.foodista.com/recipe/4D2CH2XJ/baked-lentil-cheese-burgers
The blog: http://creativedelites.com/
1 can of lentils or beans
1 med onion, diced
1 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon chili powder (or less)
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon cilantro
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar or brown sugar ( I used brown sugar)
Preheat oven 425F degrees. Put everything into a food processor and pulse until chunky. You want the mixture moist not wet. Let sit for a minute or two then form into patties. I put them on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flip them over and cook 8-10 minutes on the other side. Top with yummy burger toppings. (I wrote the instructions – see link for original)
