{FSC Book Club} Assignment 1 & 2 Recap

FSC book club

We read, we cook, we chat.
That is the FSC Book Club.

Can you believe it? We’ve already finished our first two assignments for Round 4 of the FSC Book Club. We are reading and and cooking our way through Put ‘Em Up Fruit: A Preserving Guide & Cookbook. Creative Ways to Put ‘em Up and Use ‘em Up by Sherri Brooks Vinton. (Learn more about the book at our announcement post.)

So for the first month of the book club was a doozy! We put up rhubarb, strawberries, cherries, blackberries, raspberries & oranges! So much delicious fruit! You’ve all been chirping up at the Goodreads forum and chiming in through social media too. We want to see even more of you! Keep checking in with us, tagging #FSCBookClub on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. Show us your canning and preserving and cooking progress! Invite us into your kitchens!

Here’s a quick recap of {Meetings 1 & 2}: Rhubarb, Strawberries & Cherries and Blackberries, Raspberries & Oranges.

Very happy with this recipe and jam. Added a little of cherry brandy since didn't have kirsch to give a boost on the cherry flavor.

Awesome recap! (kinda wishing I’d edited out the cat food can on the counter. ha!)

Wow! Everything looks so good! I’ve been busy with apricots, blueberries, and blackberries this week. So far I’ve done the Blueberry Ketchup and the Apricot Habanero Salsa from the book (which I’m in LOVE with) plus Apricot Rosemary Jam and Blackberry-Apricot jam. I still have my plums to do……but so undecided about which recipe to try!

I made the blueberry ketchup too! I opened a jar yesterday it was really.. um.. jam. Oh well… I just smashed it.
