Food Pantries of the Capital District is hosting its Autumn Evening Gala at Washington Park’s Lakehouse tonight at 5pm.
Brew & Boo Fest at the Times Union Center, October 29, 4pm-9pm. From Albany.com “Come and sample over 50 beers. You will receive a souvenir mug with your entry ticket. Come in a costume and you could win a trip for 2 to Las Vegas! There will be tarot card reading, photography, and more. Need a ride? There will be Free Safe Rides Home! Food will be available with a $10 all you can eat ticket”
According to Miss Albany Diner’s Facebook page,they will be hosting a book signing by Mike Engle, co-author if “Diners in New York” on October 30th from 11-2pm. Books will be on hand to buy if needed.
On Halloween, 1-4pm Honest Weight Food Co-op is hosting a “healthy” Trick-O-Treat Event. I don’t know much about it, saw a flyer for it today, but check their website for updates.
On November 13 & 14th, Pride of New York Harvest Festival will be at a bigger venue this year, Empire State Plaza.
In the shoulda-been catagory: Honest Weight & WAMC host a film series, Food For Thought, which is a monthly evening of food, film and discussion with a focus on films of social, political, environmental and community interest. Held on the third Thursday of each month, the night will feature food samples by Honest Weight Food Co-op, a feature film screening, and an open panel discussion. Next screening is Tapped $6 on November 18th. Reception at 6pm, film at 7pm. Check out WAMC’s The Linda website.

Denison Farm is offering winter boxes again this year. According to their website: “We are offering again to both CSA and non-CSA members a winter vegetable box this year for four pick-up times – two in November and two in December. Each box will contain root crops (potatoes, celeriac, sweet potatoes, carrots, and beets), winter squash, along with leeks, rutabaga, kale, and onions. The box will weigh approximately 35 lbs. and the cost will be $50 per box. The order forms will be available on our website and pick-ups will be at the farm and at the Saratoga and Troy Farmers’ Markets.” More information on the website.
Dancing Ewe Farm is offering another Olive Oil CSA Season. Harvested in November, you receive your 3LT in the Spring. How cool is this? Your deposit, $40, is due by November 1st. They are at the Saratoga Farmers Market on Saturdays. How cool is this? I’ve sign up and will have a full report on the farm, the owners Jody & Luisa (the friendliest people!!!) soon!
